South West Ag Partners Aquiring Palmerston Grain

South West Ag Partners Inc., a Chatham, ON based crop input and grain dealer has entered into an agreement to buy Palmerston Grain Ltd.

According to the South West Ag Partners release, Palmerston Grain will operate under the same name and GM Archie Wilson will remain a core part of the Palmerston operations.

Palmerston Grain was established in 1963 by the McLaughlin family and is a dealer of wheat, corn, soybeans and Canola serving much of Ontario’s grain belt. C&M Seeds, also owned by the McLaughlins is not part of the sale.

Palmerston’s elevator has 2.1 million bushels of storage with IP capabilities and state-of-the-art grain handling technology.

John McLaughlin stated, “Palmerston Grain has a high level of comfort with the people of South West Ag through our various business dealing and long-standing relationships between some of our people. As the McLaughlin family made the decision to transition our grain business interests, our customers, both farmers and end-users were front of mind. We are very comfortable and confident the Palmerston Grain is staying in the hands of people like ourselves are committed to the ag industry, operate a first-rate business and care about their customers, employees and the local farm community.”

South West Ag Partners GM, Paul Hazzard said, “Palmerstong is great fit for us. It is a well run company with quality people and excellent assets and it expands our reach in the Ontario market. It provides us with the opportunity to bring our suite of unique risk management tools and consultative grain offerings to more of Ontario’s progressive producers.”
