In late October, University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus graduate student Kurtis Baute competed in the Euraxess Science Slam North American competition held in Toronto and won!

There were five competitors and they each had 10 minutes to present their work in front of a non-expert audience. Kurtis gets to travel to Europe in the spring and participate in a science communication workshop with other Science Slam winners from around the world.

The focus of the Science Slam is on making research interesting, engaging, entertaining and thrilling to the audience. This is the second year for this competition and has participants from the many different fields of science (e.g. astrophysics). On behalf of Chatham-Kent Agri-Development, congratulations to Kurtis!  Well done!

Here is the website about his presentation and music video.
