Grey County is shining a spotlight on creative technological innovation in agriculture and food in November.

The Ag 4.0: The Next Big Thing Summit and Innovation tour is set for Nov. 2 and 3 in Meaford. The event features a full day of engaging workshops, networking, and professional development. To register, visit http://connectedcounty-smartag.eventbrite.ca

Nov. 2 – Ag 4.0: The Next Big Thing Summit

The day will be jam-packed with high-value, interactive workshops, lectures and opportunities to network with producers, innovators, and technological entrepreneurs and creative people.

Speakers include Peter Gredig from AgNition, Jennifer Christie from the Global 4-H Summit, Kyle Arbuckle from blueRover, Marcia Woods from FreshSpoke, leaders in the Ag Women’s Network, local economic development officers, advisors from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs, plus exciting producers from across Ontario and many others.

The event will also include hands-on workshops with tech-tools and “speed dating” sessions, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet and connect with people and businesses you might not ordinarily cross paths with – but who might have great ideas for how you can work together to improve your existing operations. Maybe you’ll meet the perfect collaborator who will help you come up with “the next big thing.”

Nov. 3 – Ag 4.0 Innovation Tour

Attendees will have the opportunity to tour some exciting Grey County farms and businesses to learn more about their innovative practices and how they have leveraged ICT and digital tools to “grow where they are planted” and build successful agriculture and food businesses in Grey County.

Tours and speakers include: Lomarr Lea Farms, T&K Ferri Orchards, Valleykirk Farms, Kilannan Brewing Co., and many more. Additional featured speakers include the Bay Growers Inc., Andy van Niekerk the AGRI-TREND Coach, and Garrett Froese from Froese & Co.

A very limited number of seats are available for the Innovation Tour. Registration is required. (Note that the Innovation Tour will only be available to registrants who attend the Summit on Nov. 3 – you can choose to attend just the Summit or the Summit and the Tour, but must register/attend the Summit to register for the Innovation Tour.)
