The Lambton-Kent Agriculture in the Classroom committee is very pleased to announce its 20th annual Gala Fundraising Dinner, “A Taste of Lambton-Kent”, to be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 in Willson Hall at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus.
The evening opens with a social beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. This exciting event showcases the finest agricultural products of the region through an elegantly presented multi-course meal.
The funds raised at this event help to foster programs designed to increase awareness and appreciation of agriculture to youth within the local educational system.
It is the primary fundraiser for the Lambton-Kent Agriculture in the Classroom (LKAITC) committee. Current committee projects include Harvest Days, an ag program for grade 3 students; Spring Days, an ag program for grade 4 students; and an Adopt A Farmer program using Skype as the platform back to a classroom from a farm near you.
LKAITC also refurbishes agricultural science activity kits with the assistance of the Lambton-Kent District School Board Science Education Partnership.
This year, we are very excited to be updating the Grade 2 Farm Animals science kit with the financial help of the Libro Prosperity Fund. The new kit will be unveiled that evening to guests.
“Agriculture in the Classroom educates students about rural life that will help students make better decisions on agriculture in the future,” says committee Chair, Judy Krall.
