Applications for 2018 Canadian Nuffield Farming Scholarships are due April 30, 2017.
Nuffield Farming Scholarships are awarded to Canadians from any aspect of agriculture and agribusiness, with a desire to expand their knowledge, pursue new ideas and share their findings with others for the betterment of the industry. Applicants should be in mid-career, between the ages of 25 and 45 (guideline) with a minimum of five years of agricultural business or farming experience and the management ability travel for a minimum of 10 weeks, with a minimum of six consecutive weeks in one leg of their travel.
Scholars must complete their project within two years of being awarded, producing a written report and presenting their findings to the Nuffield Canada AGM.
Nuffield Canada investors will provide four named scholarships for 2018.
Glacier Farm Media is supporting a general interest scholarship.
The Grain Farmers of Ontario scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding individual involved in the Ontario grain industry whose study shows direct benefit to the Ontario grain sector.
The Western Grains Research Foundation (WGRF) scholarship is available to scholars directly involved in the Western Canadian field crop sector, preferably a producer, or an individual actively involved in the sector through extension or research whose research topic will focus on the field crop sector.
The Alberta Wheat Commission scholarship is available to an Alberta resident involved in the Western Canadian grain sector, directly connected to primary grain production. Research topics will focus on studies that benefit the wheat sector.
One additional scholarship will be funded by Nuffield alumni for a total of five scholarships, each valued at $15,000.
