One local farmer is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame thanks to French’s.

Jeff Jack from Chatham-Kent appears in French’s new commercial, which is airing now across Canada.

Jack says he was approached because he grows tomatoes for Highbury Canco in Leamington.

“I guess they were looking for a token farmer, and I would like to think someone young, and vibrant in the farming community,” says Jack. “So they asked if I would partake and be involved in one of their commercials across Canada for French’s.”

Jack says because of the weather he filmed his part in a greenhouse.

“They wanted to get their marketing campaign across Canada started so, actually it was filmed in a greenhouse in Leamington. So my wife was there for half a day with the filming part of it,” he says. “It was quite fun.”

Jack says the plant in Leamington is growing.

“Currently Highbury Canco are just about up to the same volumes that Heinz used to be in their heyday. So it’s really exciting that the industry is coming back and growing, and French’s is a partner, so it’s just a great, good news story,” says Jack.
