Delhaven Orchards Ltd. is a family farm owned and operated by Marilyn and Hector Delanghe. Over 400 acres are farmed and crops grown include apples (16 varieties), peaches (12 varieties), sweet cherries (6 varieties), pears (3 varieties), apricots (4 varieties), nectarines (3 varieties), strawberries (6 varieties), kiwi, soybeans, tomatoes, corn and wheat.
Delanghe credits much of his farm’s success to the many off-shore workers hired every year to assist with daily operations. Delhaven Orchards has been an annual home-away-from-home for numerous Jamaicans, as well as workers from other countries, for several decades.
In 2013, Delanghe received the Badge of Honour, from the Governor General of Jamaica, during that country’s Heroes Day celebrations. The medal recognized Delanghe’s long and faithful service in the field of agriculture and his contributions to creating a meaningful and significant impact on national Jamaican life.
