In 1976, the DeGoey family were fresh market field growers. John and Jane DeGoey believed that growing flowers was a niche they could build, and in 1980 they built their first greenhouse for flowers. Today the whole family is involved in the thriving business.
Building slowly through the years, the company has developed new markets and expanded to a 5.5 acre flower greenhouse farm with an additional 5-acre outside mum growing area and 15 acres of locally-grown cedars. They grow approximately 60,000 hanging baskets and a full line of bedding plants, which fill their 6 garden centres in Chatham-Kent, Essex and an outlet in Michigan.
During the winter months, DeGoeys grows poinsettias. They have become one of the biggest suppliers of fresh evergreen planters, wreaths and garlands in southwestern Ontario and Michigan.
