The Ontario Sugarbeet Growers are gearing up for the annual BARnBQ to be held on June 25.
The event is on from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Fox Family Farm at 26528 Baldoon Road, Dover Centre in Chatham-Kent.
All proceeds go to the Brian Fox Memorial Agriculture Scholarship Fund, administered by the Ontario Sugarbeet Growers’ Association. Earnings from this fund will be used to award the scholarship each to a student from Lambton or Chatham-Kent entering an agricultural post-secondary program that fall.
Fox, who passed way in 2013, was a well-respected Chatham-Kent farmer, community leader and innovative businessman.
Among his achievements, he was instrumental in bringing sugarbeets back to Ontario after a 30-year absence.
The Brian Fox Memorial Agriculture Scholarship is funded by generous donations from various agricultural businesses in Ontario, the Michigan Sugar Company, the OSGA, and the Fox Family.
