The Chatham-Kent Food Policy Council is in the process of recruiting new members to fill vacant positions related to some of the key stakeholder groups in our food system. At this time, one of the positions we are recruiting for one additional person to represent the agriculture sector. Over the last few years that CK Food Policy Council has been working to create new opportunities in the food system. Our vision is a Chatham-Kent with a vibrant, local food system where the healthy choice is the easy choice.
We are hoping that either you or someone from your organization might consider being a part of our membership. To help you with this decision, here is some more information about what would be expected:
- Attend 5 Food Policy Council Meetings each year. These are held the second Wednesday of the month in January, March, May, September and November from 5:30-7:30 with dinner provided.
- Provide context and understanding for the area of the food system that you represent.
- Participate in one working group (we currently have three – access and availability focusing on developing our gleaning program, food skills which is working to create a food skills network to support cooking programs in the community and our Community Food Initiative that is working to support the creation of a food initiative). These meetings tend to be monthly (depending on what work is currently happening).
We hope that you will consider putting in an application for this vacancy and if you feel that it isn’t a good fit, would you consider sharing it with others who might be interested?
Here is the link to the application which is due Friday December 9th.
