On June 2, Dr. Charlotte Yates, University of Guelph Provost and Vice-President (Academic), will address a class of 300 diploma and certificate graduates at the 2017 Ridgetown Campus graduation ceremony.

“I grew up in a rural agriculture community in western Canada and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share some life advice with Ridgetown graduates. As a University leader, I feel very assured about our future as I meet graduates eager to tackle the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead in the agriculture and food sector,” says Dr. Charlotte Yates.

Dr. Rene Van Acker, Ontario Agricultural College Dean, University of Guelph, is keen to see the many contributions that the new graduates will make in their careers.

“Our students and alumni are vital to the success of the Ontario and Canadian agri-food sectors. There is strong industry demand for leaders like the Ridgetown Campus graduates we will celebrate on June 2nd,” he says.

The Class of 2017 has selected Ms. Jade Fleming, an Associate Diploma in Agriculture classmate, to deliver the valedictorian address. Jade is from Shelburne, Ontario and has been working for Holmes Agro, a farm supply business in Orangeville since completing her final semester.

“The class of 2017 has been an excellent group of students; and I’m very pleased with the contributions they’ve made to the campus, the community, and to their fellow classmates’ experience during their time at Ridgetown. As students return to campus for graduation many of these graduates will have secured full-time employment; and we’re excited about their passion, and the diverse skill sets they will take to their work places, many in their home communities, across Ontario and Canada,” says Ken McEwan, Campus Director.

Following the annual Donor Appreciation Luncheon, the formal graduation celebrations will begin with the traditional graduation procession to the Rudy H. Brown Rural Development Centre, Pestell Auditorium. This year, the Ridgetown Campus celebrates its 20th anniversary under the administration of the University of Guelph.

Our sincere congratulations to the Class of 2017
