The 57th Annual South Western Ontario Pork Conference will return Wednesday, February 20, 2019, to get pork producers ready for “Making Money Start to Finish.”

Held at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus, SWOPC will continue its tradition of educational excellence. Plan to come early and tour the campus swine teaching facility. The day continues with the traditional trade show and an incredible speaker line up.

This year we are excited to have Ron Ketchem, Co-Owner of Swine Management Services, speaking on how to “Focus on the Little Things.” New this year is a producer panel featuring three Ontario pork producers answering questions regarding farrowing room management.

Lisa Wormsbecher from Conestoga Meats will be speaking on “Factors Affecting Export Markets,” and Ryan Tenbergen from Demeter S.V. will be updating the crowd on local health issues in the pork industry.

“It’s all about keeping the producers informed and up-to-date and providing a place for industry reps to visit with their customers,” says Darren Sloan, chair of the 2019 SWOPC Planning Committee.

Conference attendees should plan to visit the teaching barn and then spend time visiting industry partners and enjoying complimentary coffee & refreshments before the program begins at 4:00 pm. The conference is very fortunate to have industry sponsors to help bring such a great program to the area producers.

“We are excited to offer pork producers in Southwestern Ontario an event which showcases the pork industry at the trade show and also educates by the excellent presentations we have arranged. This conference has lots to offer, and all pork producers should plan to attend,” adds Sloan.
